Direct Selling - What you need to know!
“Spend an evening with a bunch of network marketers, and you may be amazed by their positive attitudes, friendliness, and willingness to help each other. They don’t keep secrets from their colleagues. If they find a solution to a problem, they want everyone to take advantage of it.” – Zig Ziglar & John Hayes, Network Marketing for Dummies
FEAR is simply an acronym for "False Evidence Appearing Real.”
Today, Consumers have access to just about any product or service through Direct Selling somewhere in the world. Many people think of cosmetics, cleaning products, nutritional products and homeware as products that are available through Direct Selling. However, there is an ever-growing range of products and services marketed via Direct Selling, either person-to-person, via party-plan or online.
In the UK, over 631,000 (DSA 2022) people are involved with direct selling. It is a vibrant, growing industry offering a flexible earning opportunity to all, whatever age, culture, gender or ability. Direct Selling is a method of marketing and retailing goods or services directly to Consumers, through personal contact or online.
Many Direct Selling companies are now organised on multi-level principles. This is where Direct Sellers are given the prospect to build their own sales teams, in addition to the rewards from making personal sales. In doing so, they stand to receive additional rewards paid by the Direct Selling Company on the sales achieved by those they have recruited, trained, helped and motivated.
“By its very nature and design, network marketing is a strikingly fair, democratic, socially responsible system of generating wealth.” – Robert Kiyosaki, The Business of the 21st Century
Direct Selling allows anyone to set up and run their own business and is open to everyone over the age of 18 regardless of gender, background, education or race.
The great attraction of Direct Selling is that it offers a flexible earning opportunity where you are in control of the income you can generate. Many work their Direct Selling businesses part-time along with their regular job to earn extra income. Some eventually choose to put in full-time hours and generate a substantial income.

You should select a business that markets products that appeal to you and which seem fairly priced. If you are enthusiastic about the product yourself, sales will be much easier to achieve.
The appeal of a company’s product is much more important than the rates of commission and bonuses that are on offer. Reasonable commissions on easily achieved sales are much better than a high commission on sales that are difficult to achieve.
It is advisable to ensure that the business you are considering is a Direct Selling Association Member. This gives an assurance that the business opportunity is legal and the company has agreed to abide by the DSA Codes. There are over 50 member businesses.
You can run a substantial Direct Selling business from your home using channels of internet and telephone as a means of communication, although personal contact does significantly help to grow your business.
